If someone asked me where The Adair Collective began, they might assume it started with a business idea.
But the truth is, it started with my mom.
Adair was her middle name and naming this space after her felt like the most meaningful way I could honor the person she was.
She was the hardest-working person I’ve ever known. I honestly don’t remember seeing her sit down in the evenings. She was always baking cookies for someone, tending to the house, working her second (or third) job, running an errand or finding another way to care for the people she loved.
She had a gift for making people feel seen. Safe. Loved.
She also believed there would always be time to slow down.
She’d talk about the trips she’d take someday. How she’d retire someday. How life would settle down someday.
But she never got that chance.
Losing her to cancer in 2017 changed me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time.
Looking back, I think it gave me a quiet sense of urgency. Within a single year, I got married, welcomed my first baby and opened a restaurant with my family. I poured everything I had into building a life I loved.
And I truly did love it.
But somewhere along the way, being busy stopped feeling like a season and started feeling like my identity.
There was always another email to answer. Another event to plan. Another practice to get to. Another load of laundry. Another thing on tomorrow’s to-do list.
Without realizing it, I had become so focused on keeping life running that I wasn’t always fully experiencing it.
Then one day, I caught myself thinking about my mom.
I realized that in so many ways, I had become just like her.
Always taking care of everyone else.
Always moving.
Always believing there would be more time later.
That realization stopped me in my tracks.
I don’t want to spend my life waiting for “someday.”
I don’t want to look back and realize I rushed through the very years I wished for.
More than anything, I want my children to remember how our home felt. I want them to remember laughter around the dinner table, slow Saturday mornings, adventures together and a mom who was present—not just productive.
That doesn’t mean I want a different life.
I love being a mom. I love owning a business. I love having a full calendar filled with people and things that matter.
I just don’t want to be so busy managing my life that I forget to actually live it.
That’s why I created The Adair Collective.
This isn’t a place about perfection or escaping the realities of everyday life.
It’s a place to remember what matters.
A place to celebrate ordinary moments that often become our favorite memories.
A place to slow down just enough to notice the life that’s already unfolding around us.
If this space encourages even one person to stop waiting for the perfect time – to take the trip, linger over morning coffee, put down their phone or simply be a little more present with the people they love – then it’s doing exactly what I hoped it would.
I still have days when I get caught up in the rush. I still find myself looking too far ahead.
But I always come back to the same reminder.
Life isn’t waiting for us somewhere down the road.
It’s happening today.
I’m so grateful you’re here and I hope this little corner of the internet inspires you to savor the life you’re living right now.
Welcome to The Adair Collective.
